Lisa Aguilar

Lisa Aguilar is a Licensed School Psychologist with over 10 years experience working in the educational system. Lisa received her Masters degree in Clinical Child/School Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville along with her Specialist degree in School Psychology.

Lisa’s strengths include evaluating educational systems and practices and assisting other professionals in developing effective protocols and procedures.  She is driven by education transformation and developing strategies to support systemic change and student achievement. Lisa has a passion for educating individuals in mental health risk factors and guiding support systems through prevention and intervention.  Lisa’s experience in schools puts her at an advantage for guiding collaboration between education in the home and school environments to ensure student success.

Lisa’s expertise provides value to school systems, parents navigating support within the educational system, and children, adolescents, and young adults who are striving to gain independence and academic success. Lisa enjoys helping school aged children strengthen their executive functioning skills, empowering them to be independent and successful, as they transition from school to adulthood.  Lisa has a passion for working with children and adolescents who may need assistance overcoming challenges with school anxiety/refusal, test anxiety, and perfectionism.  Additionally, Lisa values educating parents on support within the school system and assisting parents in advocating for their child by creating a bridge between the home and school environments to ensure success. 

Lisa’s solution-focused approach to coaching children and adolescents is to meet them where they are at and help them set realistic goals and expectations.  Lisa believes in highlighting small successes in sessions to gain momentum and confidence within her clients.  Lisa enjoys collaborating with parents and schools by assessing strengths and weaknesses, focusing on supports and interventions, and creating a feasible action plan.

Lisa’s professional affiliations include the Illinois School Psychologist Association (ISPA) and the Association for Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
