Marcy O’Dell
Marcy O’Dell is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with specialties including DBT, CBT, and experiential work utilizing art and mindfulness. She finds something as simple as taking a walk while noticing our senses can shift the dynamic of a typical therapy session. Creating using various art media is another way to engage with our thoughts and emotions when words fall short of explaining how we feel.
With a history of working in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and running skill/experiential groups, Marcy currently works with clients individually but often pulls from her experience teaching coping skill groups to educate her clients.
Marcy especially enjoys working with adolescents and the emerging adulthood population, with experience working with adults as well. That time as an adolescent growing into a young adult is an essential part of forming your identity and figuring out your place in the world. It can be tricky navigating a world with so many opinions and wondering how you fit into it. Balancing relationships, school and/or a job while figuring out your purpose can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. Sessions with Marcy offer a balance of encouragement and challenging you to be your best self. Together you will set goals, learn skills, and sort through your emotions and thoughts. Recognizing also that change is gradual and self-compassion is essential to move toward that healthy change.
