We offer a unique approach to individual, family, and group counseling. The core of our therapeutic approach is experiential or activity-based interventions. Experiential therapy promotes reflection, heightened self-awareness, skill-building, and problem-solving which engages the clients in their growth and change. Action providers offer the option for clients to meet outside if the client would prefer to feel Mother Nature’s healing properties during their session.

  • We have clinicians who see clients from 5-65+ years of age.
  • Sessions are typically 45-55 minutes in length.
  • In a safe and confidential environment, your provider will begin by reviewing Action’s policies and the consent forms.
  • Your provider will ask you questions about your reasons for seeking therapy as well as information about your history (family, relationship, psychological, career, etc.) and your current lifestyle (schedule, stressors, support network, etc,).
  • Your provider will then explain what you can expect during therapy and suggest some initial goals and objectives.
  • You and your provider will schedule future appointments based on your needs and progress.
  • During this initial and all future sessions, we encourage you to ask questions and share your needs and concerns.
  • You and your provider will decide the frequency of visits depending on your progress and need.
  • We follow all COVID guidelines as outlined by the state of Illinois for in-person sessions.
  • Our providers offer daytime and evening sessions Monday through Friday and morning sessions on Saturdays.

Current clients will work with their Action provider to schedule ongoing sessions following the first appointment.

  • To update information, clients will need to log into the client portal they set up during registration.
    • Demographic and credit card information is updated directly under the My Profile tab.
    • Insurance information is updated under the My Insurance tab and a copy of the front and back of the new insurance card should be sent to the office by clicking on the “Ask Scheduling” button.
  • In order for our providers to focus on your mental health care, all of the registration requirements must be completed at least 48 business hours prior to your appointment.
  • Our Client Care team is available should you need assistance.
  • New clients need to call the office at 630-686-2282 to get connected with one of our providers and schedule the first appointment.
  • Existing clients will work directly with their Action provider for their scheduling needs.
  • At this time, there is no online scheduling feature available.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, you must contact your Action provider directly within 24 hours.

  • If you miss a session without canceling or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, Action’s policy is to charge $50 to the credit card on file (unless you and your Action provider both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control).

  • It is important to note that insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for “no show” or canceled sessions; thus, you will be responsible for the portion of the fee as described above. If it is possible, your therapist will try to find another time to reschedule the appointment.

  • You’re also responsible for coming to your session on time; if you are late, your appointment still needs to end on time.

We offer a discounted self-pay rate option in the event that your insurance does not cover your care, you do not wish to utilize your benefits, or we are not in-network with your insurance plan.

  • If you wish to utilize your insurance benefits, please contact your insurance company to obtain your mental/behavioral health benefits for outpatient, in-office appointments, and make sure Action Consulting and Therapy is in-network with your plan.  Action is in-network with many insurance plans, but not all.
  • If you do not wish to utilize your insurance benefits, please read “What if I don’t wish to submit claims to my insurance company?” below.
  • Co-payments, as indicated by a client’s insurance plan, are charged at the time of each service.
  • Once insurance claims are fully processed, Action Consulting and Therapy will bill any remaining balance to the credit card on file, according to the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) provided by the client’s insurance company.

If you are unsure what (if any) mental health benefits your health insurance plan offers, please contact your insurance company by calling the customer service number listed on the back of your insurance card.  You’ll want to ask these questions:

  • Is Action Consulting and Therapy an in-network provider in my plan?

    • If yes:
      • What are my benefits for behavioral health appointments held in the office or by video (telemental health)?
      • Am I covered for couples or family therapy? If yes, what are those benefits?
      • What is my financial responsibility for each appointment? What is my copay, coinsurance, or deductible?
      • Are there any limitations to my behavioral health coverage?
      • Am I limited to the number of sessions allowed?

  • If no, Action Consulting and Therapy is not an in-network provider:
      • What are my out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
      • What is my financial responsibility for each of these out-of-network appointments?
      • Are there any limitations to my out-of-network coverage?

If you are using your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits, during registration please provide us with the following information:

  • EAP name
  • EAP company phone number
  • Authorization number
  • Number of authorized sessions
  • Start and end date for these sessions
  • Action will verify coverage but we do not offer a quote of benefits from insurance companies
  • Clients should contact their insurance company to obtain their behavioral health benefits prior to scheduling an appointment.
  • Not necessarily.  Just because we are in-network with your primary health insurance company does not mean your policy offers behavioral/mental health coverage.
  • Please contact your insurance company to find out if you have mental/behavioral health benefits for outpatient, in-office (or video) appointments, and make sure Action Consulting and Therapy is in-network with your plan.
  • If Action is an in network provider with your insurance company, we will collect the contracted rate according to your plan and submit claims on your behalf.
  • If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, we offer self-pay rates and will charge your card on file at the end of each session.  We will give you a superbill (receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement directly to you. Please contact our office for self-pay rates.
  • Clients are financially responsible for any fees that remain after their insurance company has processed the claim.
  • We refer to the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) provided by the insurance company, however, if you have confusion on benefits or think there may be an error, we will be happy to talk this through with you.
  • In the event your insurance company makes an error, we can educate you and assist with advocating for your benefits.
  • We offer self-pay rates and will charge your card on file at the end of each session.  We will give you a superbill (receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement directly to you. Please contact our office for self-pay rates.
  • We offer self-pay rates and will charge your card on file at the end of each session.  Please contact our office for self-pay rates.
  • Action Consulting and Therapy is a cashless practice and requires all clients to keep a credit card on file.
  • Clients are required to enter a credit card during registration and update information through their client account.
  • Health Savings Account cards may be kept on file as the primary form of payment, but the client MUST have a backup credit card on file in case HSA funds are depleted.
  • A credit card is required even when the client will be utilizing their Employee Assistance Program benefits.  The credit card will not be charged for EAP benefits unless there is a lapse or change in benefits as quoted at the start of therapy.
  • If we are in-network with your insurance plan but you do not wish to utilize your benefits, you will need to sign an insurance opt-out form and pay our self-pay rates at the end of each session.
  • Because we are contracted with your insurance company, we are unable to offer you a superbill (receipt) for reimbursement.
  • Action does not offer payment plans.  Clients will be responsible to pay at the time of service.
